About Plover Hygiene
Plover Hygiene was founded in 2020 shortly before the pandemic, where clean and safe workplaces were more important than they’d ever been before.
Our co-owners have always had a passion for commercial cleaning, and each has over a decade of experience in the sector. Joe Cameron worked in a variety of roles after graduating from university before finding his calling as a pest control technician.
Joe Ritchie worked for many years in his family cleaning business, trying out many different niches including house clearances and builders cleaning before discovering a love of industrial and specialist cleaning.
United by a commitment to providing specialist cleaning services and helping businesses solve their problems, the two Joes founded Plover Hygiene, and the rest as they say, is history!
Independently owned and proud to be a Scottish business, Plover Hygiene specialises in providing high-quality commercial cleaning services, no matter how challenging the task or environment.

Meet The Team
Joe Cameron
As our Technical and Compliance Director, Joe is not only responsible for managing our health and safety processes, but researching new and innovative cleaning solutions.
Outside of work, Joe enjoys travelling to remote areas and exploring off-the-beaten track. He is also a qualified canyon guide and has thrown himself down several waterfalls!
Joe Ritchie
(We know, someone’s got to do it, right?!)
As Operations Director, Joe sets our strategic goals and makes sure we achieve them. He’s also responsible for the day-to-day management of our staff and projects.
Outside of work, Joe is an avid follower of harness racing, travelling around Great Britain, as well as further afield, to watch. He loves most sports, enjoying a regular game of football!
Anne Craig
Anne wears many hats at Plover Hygiene, not only driving business development, but also managing the day-to-day operations of the office, including planning and scheduling, accounts, and invoicing. She’s a qualified First Aider and Mental Health First Aider too!
Outside of work, Anne enjoys going to the gym and curling. She is also heavily involved with the Scottish Association of Young Farmers.
How Do You Clean a Crocodile’s Teeth?
Unless you want to come away with missing fingers… You don’t!
It’s best to leave some tasks to the professionals. While watching a nature documentary one day, Joe Cameron’s mum saw a plucky little bird swoop into a crocodile’s mouth and pick the food out of its teeth, keeping them nice and clean – the plover.
Just like our namesake bird, we specialise in cleaning challenging environments, taking on the tasks that other cleaners can’t (or won’t) handle.
